Bella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Bella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Bella, the person Edward holds most dear. Deeply romantic and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with bite.

I was late in experiencing the Twilight Saga, I started reading them after being lent the first two books. I wasn't expecting much as I had not heard very favorable comments about Mrs. Meyer's writing, however I was pleasantly surprised. The characters are so well thought out and described that I truly felt as if I got to know each of them, I cared what happened to them. I was able to identify with Bella Swan, as far as being a rather quiet female who is somewhat shy and unusual; and I could not help falling in love with the mysterious Edward Cullen as I read. This book was simply a pleasure to read, definitely not high literature. But I think you are robbing yourself of simple pleasures if you do not include a little light reading in your life. After completing the entire Saga, I must say that Twilight was my favorite of the four books; in part because I felt this book to be the most free from thinly veiled LDS ideals and doctrine. By the final book, Breaking Dawn, I felt like the "Mormon ideal" was being crammed down my throat, which was very disappointing and literally was making me sick. The introduction of these characters and their journey towards their relationship was interesting and exciting to me. The tension in the narrative is great, as well as the release felt at the moments Edward and Bella finally connect. All else aside, I think I am so fond of the story because I have an enormous passion for all things antique and so the handsome vampire from the past sounds like a lovely companion to me...
